On July 5th over 200 leasing industry professionals signed up to ‘walk the plank’ from the Thames Embankment to join the Asset Finance Professionals Association’s Summer Networking and charity gathering on The Yacht London.
With deals being discussed and many new contacts made, the generosity of the Asset Finance industry was clearly evident. A short presentation from Make a Wish about the work of the charity fuelled a very successful auction and raffle ably assisted by the enthusiastic VitrX and Shoosmiths teams.
The Yacht London provided the perfect Summer venue and the weather gods looked down kindly upon the event. Despite guests enjoying a few libations, no ‘man overboard drills’ needed to be put into practise. Other highlights included Caption Peter and his Cordoba Pirates running an entertaining treasure hunt.
Many partners and sponsors added to the success of the event including: David Marsh who tirelessly sent many email invitations, the Clear Asset Finance team who manned the bobbing reception desk, VitrX who provided the badges and sponsorship from Asset Advantage, Cordoba Rewards, Global Lifecycle, Grant Thornton and Robinson Toms. Many generous auction lots and raffle prizes were given by individuals and companies contributing to significant funds raised for Make a Wish.
Commenting on the success of the event Johnnie Halliday of Linedata, this year’s chair of AF-PA observed: “Our Asset Finance networking events encourage participation by a broad spectrum of members and industry friends. We enjoy coming together for informal gatherings at modest cost, to engage and learn from each other whilst giving generously and having fun. A great afternoon was had by all at a new venue and feedback has been very positive!”
